The Forbidden City

On this day, the smog hung over the city like a bell, as you can see. The picture is taken from Jingshan Park, which offers the best views. I was told to see the Great Wall of China in the background on a clear day. I am unsure about that, as I couldn't find any evidence. Please prove me wrong - I would love to see the magnificence of the palace complex and all its hidden gems.

The best view of the Forbidden City from the Jingshan Park

The Forbidden City in Bejing, the major construction, was completed in 1420 in just four years.

Till today it is the largest palace complex in history. The city is equivalent to 140 soccer fields in size or 720.000 square meters and is also called the Ocean of Palaces, the legend says, due to its 9999 rooms in 999 buildings.
The complex survived 4 major and many more minor earthquakes. To scientists, the question of how the Forbidden City, which is constructed on wooden structures, manages to withstand earthquakes is still challenging to answer or so-called a miracle in itself.
