With its extraordinary sound, the Sea Organ in Zadar became the most famous point for watching the sunset.

Maybe because of its uniqueness as the Sea Organ is played by the ocean’s motion, it's the instrument of the sea that never sleeps.

Nikola Bašić, a local architect of remarkable ingenuity, invented the Sea Organ to bring the peak of Zadar Riva back to life, which was always blessed with stunning sunsets. It was that no one would take the long walk to the very peak of the Riva to recognise the beauty it holds.

Nowadays, thanks to Nikolas's invention, many people come together every evening to discover and witness the incredible spectacle of the sun and the sea.

Here it comes a short explanation on how it works:

Piping tubes are built into the ground to interact with the motion of the waves, creating a unique sound as the water fills them up.

The holes in the floor function as speakers. Here, the sound of the ocean becomes audible to the numerous visitors.

The Sea Organ is where people meet to admire the sunset and applaud the sun as it disappears into the sea.

To feel and observe the sound of the waves that play this extraordinary and incomparable song of tranquillity, watching kids play- dive into the water and eat ice cream while the sun sets might be the most beautiful declaration of peacefulness and love I can think of.

The greeting to the sun, aka Pozdrav suncu, lies next to the sea organ—a massive circle of 300 glass panels with solar modules that are built into the stone footpath. Within the flooring are lightning elements installed that produce a light show at night.

Nicola Bašić's intention with these two beautiful pieces of architecture of sound and vision symbolizes communication with nature.

What an extraordinary and beautiful way to celebrate the ocean and the sun and communicate through architecture with nature.

Furthermore, Zadar is a city of uniqueness with its street musicians, the love songs of the ocean, and its picturesque Roman architecture acknowledged by Unesco.
